HLAA Mission The mission of the Hearing Loss Association of America is to open the world of communication to people with hearing loss by providing information, education, advocacy, and support.

HLAA History Rocky Stone started SHHH in 1979. The name, Self Help for Hard of Hearing People, highlighted his desire that SHHH could help us help ourselves.

Texas has been renamed from Texas SHHH to the Hearing Loss Association of America - Texas State Office. There are 12 HLA Chapters in Texas: Abilene, Clear Lake, Fort Worth, Grapevine, Houston, Longview, Odessa, Round Rock, San Antonio, Seabrook, Snyder, and Tyler.
